Angel of God

Angel of God

I completed all the pieces I wanted for the show and had one unfinished project. On Sunday I went to the Photo Studio to speak with Richard and Jos.  I told Jos I had an unfinished Angel which perhaps I should do.  She responded that I had to complete it so she could frame it in time for the show.

The meaning of it all changed then, and it simply had to be done. I do not do any of these pictures without guidance from a supernatural source.  I cannot see my work while it is under the machine’s presser foot, and I talk to God constantly, begging Him to make me do it right.  I take the piece off the machine and when I see that it is well done, I say, “Thank You God!’

This picture was completed at 2.30am on Monday November 22, 1999 and took 19 hours of work from its beginning. There are ten pieces of fabric in satin and polyester.  The piece is almost entirely stitched in a variety of straight stitch and zigzag.  The face of the angel is drawn with a fabric pen.

Jos’s reaction when she saw it on Monday?  “Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God”!

And so it is done.
