I was browsing the web one night and on an African site, I came across a picture scene with mud covered people. The mud was a putty colour and the people looked like ghosts. This scene was a challenge for me but there was a block on the site and I couldn’t print the picture as a reminder. After looking at my African dolls again, I just had to do something like those “Duppies”. Strange how the mind works, but as I assembled this picture, my thoughts went back to the Brac and when I was a child. “Dey was Duppies” and I wondered what the rolling calf looks like. Perhaps someone will tell me? 12 Hours later, as I stood back and looked at this beautiful picture I had made, I was reminded of some very dear friends, very much alive! Tall, slim, beautiful, hard working, “Dey nuh no duppies”! They are more African dolls. As I left home with my piece of art, the first person to see my dolls fell in love with them, and the piece was sold! I was stunned…..I love them too!
