  Sometimes we wonder about some of the decisions which are made by the people who are employed by us to manage our country. Of course, the same goes for every country without exception. They feel that they are acting in our interests but they have lost touch with the common man.

This piece was produced after one such decision which affected a number of people who gave, in most cases, heart and soul to my island home. It reflects the general mood of the time, a mood which thankfully now seems behind us as we recognise the contributions of ex-patriates in our home.

The piece hangs in the Cayman home of one family who were affected, a personal and tongue-in-cheek gift from me. That family does not live here now, but visits regularly - they are sorely missed by many people and charitable or social organisations. But with their sense of humour, I know that they understood the concept of square pegs and round holes...
