One of Grand Cayman's most famous landmarks, The Conch
Shell House, is the home of Mike and Ginger Henderson. This is from
a picture I took myself one day after a shower of rain. The
poinsettia was in full bloom, the sun was just out again. The pinks in the
conch shells, and burgundy house accents were brighter than ever.
The camera just doesn't reflect the majesty of the piece!
About 60 hours of work, and five pieces of silk, this is
all threadpainting! Every colour of the rainbow comes alive with the
finest embroidery threads and many various stitches as my hands just
flowed with the machine. I didn't want to put this piece down and
just kept going to exhaustion as it came into being.
Framed in an Italian burgundy wood with gold trim and
accented in a lighter burgundy matting and gold fillet,,,,the piece now
adorns my own home but is 'FOR SALE".
