The Gazebo

I DECIDED THE TIME HAD COME WHEN I SHOULD DISPLAY MY WORK.  I talked to Sharon, who has been a pillar of confidence for the last three weeks when we have been organizing the display.  Were it not for Sharon I probably would have changed my mind, as I have been apprehensive.  When Sharon saw my work, she suggested I do one of the Gazebo.  I course I thought that would have been lovely for the show!

Well, I cannot say how many times I stepped away and was tempted to tell her I couldn’t.  But I did it, and I consider this to be my masterpiece. I was overwhelmed as I sat at Grand Old House, and looked at what I have been able to create.

This picture is entirely sewn and took more than 50 hours –almost non stop- to complete.  There are a few pieces of satin fabric, a small amount of nylon and the clouds are of heavy fleece.  A zillion stitches all in rayon embroidery and varied to create the tiles on the roof, the two different decks in lattice, and I am especially pleased with the wicker chairs.
