| This is Merle’s first piece and is not for
sale. Deemed priceless, this piece took over three weeks, (say 200
hours) to complete, and is made up of about 180 pieces of different shapes,
sizes, colour and print. Cotton, polyester and felt on canvas, the
piece reflects the beauty of the Caribbean mountains and scenery, the sea,
the simplicity of life in wooden houses, compounded with upper class tourist
accommodation in the back ground. Beach front stores allure the
artistry of Caribbean living and commerce, while the natural majesty of
flower and fauna lead away from the sea, to a musical people coming together
for dance, camaraderie and unity. “This piece made me realize the talent in my hands, and encouraged me to continue to develop the art I now produce. Although it seemed to have taken forever to complete, it represents a certain gift from God, I never realized I had,……until now.”
