Pappagallo

After I had done Blue in the Forest, a friend asked me to make one with parrots rather than toucans.  It was to be something small….so I began, and the little whie parrot entered the scene.  Oh,  I liked that!  And I just kept going through the juingle, enjoying every moment of the freshness, the cool, the greenery, the flowers, the birds, the mystery.  I even felt lost but I didn’t mind being where I was, although I wondered how many lizards and snakes may be around!  There was such a fulfillment growing here, I just went with it.

Six months later and only a few days ago, I decided it was done.  I stand in awe myself at what I have been able to do!

There are more than 700 pieces of cotton/polyester/linen/satin and twill fabrics joined together with the finest Janome embroidery threads.  I cannot estimate the hours put into this piece, which is my son’s favorite.

I still have to do the small parrot for my friend!
