Capturing the intensity of day and night in the Caribbean. 

During the day the brilliant colour painted wood houses, emphasized outside by the intensity of mother nature’s flowers, invite friendliness but show the struggle of everyday chores. 

At night, having dressed in their finery, the rasta men and women gather in mid town, to shake off these hardships, to the beat of the bongo drums.  Moonlight invites romance. 

Each of four pieces is cotton and felt on canvas and took about 10 hours to complete per piece.  Each colour, flower and night figure is a separate piece put together with identical coloured embroidery thread and suitably selected stitches. 

The set is intended to reflect the daytime natural beauty of the Caribbean and the night time dance of the people after a hot and hard day’s work.
